AN / SPG 62 is a modern American-made fire control radar, for the development and production of which is currently the responsibility of Raytheon. The diameter of the radar antenna is 2.29 meters, and the operating frequency of the radar is in the bands from I to J, i.e. 8-20 GHz. The radar is an integral part of the Mark 99 fire control system. The main task of the AN / SPG 62 is to highlight the target in the final phase of the SM-2 missile guidance. Thus, it is an element of the air control system on the units that carry it. Most often, the AN / SPG 62 radar is closely related to the AN / SPY-1 air surveillance radar, which is one of the most important elements of the AEGIS system. It is assumed that one AN / SPY-1 radar is able to cooperate simultaneously with four AN / SPG 62 fire control radars. It is considered that the AN / SPG 62 radar is a highly effective device, with high reliability and allowing for a very high hit probability. missile at the target.
