In 2006, the British Armed Forces British Armed Forces had approximately 196,000 soldiers in active service. About 100,000 of this number served in the British Army, which was reduced to about 84,000 by 2015. The armored fist of the modern British Army consists of two divisions: the 1st Armored Division and the 7th Mechanized Division.
