FPW Model 32P813 Bristol Mercury V S2 PZL P.11c

Bristol Mercury is a British aircraft engine from the interwar period and World War II. The engine was successfully put into operation for the first time in 1925, and mass production began shortly after, resulting in the production of more than 20,000 of all versions of this engine. The length of this power unit (in the Mercury VI-S version) was approx. 120 cm, with a diameter of 130.7 cm. The weight of the "dry" power unit of this type was 438 kilograms. The presented unit was an air-cooled 9-cylinder radial engine, capable of generating a maximum power of 635 hp. It is worth adding that the entity responsible for production was the Bristol Airplane Company, and the engine itself was constantly developed in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, and the differences in maximum power between its versions were significant. For example, the Bristol Mercury II from 1928 generated 420 HP, but the Mercury VIII model from 1935 - 825-840 HP! This successful and modernizable engine, which, by the way, became the basis for the development of the Bristol Pegasus engine, was installed on many aircraft, including: Bristol Blenheim, Hawker Hart, Hawker Fury, Gloster Gladiator, Westland Lysander, but also PZL P.11.
