Albatros D.XI was a prototype fighter plane of German production from the First World War, with a fixed landing gear, in a biplane configuration. The drive was provided by a single Siemens-Halske Sh.III engine with a capacity of 160 HP. The first flight of this machine took place in February 1918 - the machine never entered mass production, only two were produced. The deck armament consisted of two 7.92 mm Spandau LMG 08/15 machine guns.
The Albatros D.XI was developed at Albatros Flugzeugwerke as a possible new German Air Force fighter with the highest maximum speed and good maneuverability. It used a completely new engine with a relatively high maximum power, as well as a biplane system, with the upper wing having a larger span than the lower wing. Efforts were also made to refine the plane as much as possible in terms of aerodynamics. Despite the fact that both prototypes of the Albatros D.XI were successfully flown, the plane did not enter serial production.
