The Antonov An-6 Meteo was a Soviet meteorological reconnaissance plane from the post-war period in a biplane system. The machine was first tested in 1948. The length of the aircraft was 12.4 meters with a wingspan of 18.18 meters. The top speed slightly exceeded 250 km / h. The Antonov An-6 Meteo was created as a development of the very successful An-2 multi-role aircraft. The new machine was designed as an aircraft capable of reaching relatively high altitudes (over 10,000 meters), which in turn resulted in the use of a turbocharged engine Szwiecow Ash-62IR / TK. Compared to the serial An-2, the An-6 also had a glass observer's cabin at the rear of the fuselage, connected to the vertical stabilizer. It is worth noting that the An-6 turned out to be a highly useful plane, and in 1954 a record of the flight altitude was set on it for this class of machines.
